Regulatory Maintenance Inspections

How It Works

Regular maintenance inspections are an important measure for maintaining your water system asset. Regular inspections can help analyze the effectiveness of the exterior and interior coating systems, monitor its structural condition, reveal any updated regulatory and health requirements, as well as maintain compliance with State and OSHA standards.

Drain Inspections

DIXON offers drained inspection services on potable water tanks. A drained inspection allows us to evaluate the coating’s performance and adhesion using low pressure water while also flushing sediment from inside the tank. Our crew will be able to quantify structural damage, visually inspect the cathodic protection system, and gather photographs during the drained inspection. After the inspection is completed, Dixon prepares a detailed report with photos and recommendations. Cost estimates are reported for all recommended work. The report serves as the basis for preparing specifications for tank rehabilitation and repair.

ROV Inspections

As an alternative for utilities that have a difficult time removing their tank from service, DIXON offers underwater inspections with the use of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).  ROV inspections provide video imaging of the wet interior’s coating system and can detect coating deterioration with minimal interruption to the water system.  After the inspection is completed, Dixon prepares a detailed report with photos and recommendations. Cost estimates are reported for all recommended work. The report serves as the basis for preparing specifications for tank rehabilitation and repair.

Float Inspections

In some water storage tanks, deterioration is most prominent on the interior roof and its structural supports. As needed, DIXON utilizes float inspections, performed with inflatable rafts, to get a closer look at the failing areas, measure appropriate structural components, and gather photographs.
