Water systems relying on a single storage tank often experience
operational difficulty removing the tank from service for inspection.
Standard inspection, disinfection and sampling requirements usually
result in a tank being out of service for a minimum of 4 days. During
that time, single tank systems must operate with constant pumping
and pressure relief valves. This wastes power and water along with
significantly reducing fire fighting capacity. For these reasons
underwater inspections which require the tank to be out of service
for only a few hours are often preferred.
Dixon has completed hundreds of underwater storage tank inspections.
All inspections are done by full time Dixon employees who are certified
divers. Preliminary maintenance inspection, maintenance inspection,
and warranty inspection reports with color photos are provided in
the same format and detail as for our drained inspections. In addition
to the diver's inspection, on reservoirs and storage tanks with
extensive roof structures, an inflatable raft is used to closely
examine these areas.
All Dixon underwater and float inspection equipment is dedicated
for potable water use only. All equipment is chlorinated prior to
tank entry, and chlorine residuals are monitored before and after
the inspection.
