Concrete
tanks present special challenges as rehabilitation options and costs
vary widely depending on the type of tank and amount of deterioration.
Unlike steel tanks that can be restored to a nearly new condition
with thorough surface preparation and painting, concrete tanks usually
require a targeted approach that minimizes further deterioration in
a cost effective manner. Unlike steel tanks that are damaged through
localized corrosion, concrete structures suffer from cracking, spalling
and differential settlement. This deterioration can often lead to
water supply contamination if not repaired.
Dixon provides a comprehensive range of services for the inspection,
maintenance and rehabilitation of concrete storage tanks. As with
steel water storage tanks, Dixon initially performs a preliminary
maintenance inspection to assess structural, safety, public health
and coating conditions. An inspection report with photographs is
then provided with repair recommendations and associated budget
estimates.
