Field Coating Inspector

Dixon Engineering is a Consulting Engineering Firm that specializes in evaluating, developing work specifications and providing inspection services for coating and rehabilitation of steel and concrete water storage tanks and other coated structures. We do not do the painting, we make sure the painting is done right. 90% of our projects are on elevated structures but we also work in Municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities and on bridge projects throughout the Midwest.

We are seeking to fill our Field Coating Inspector position. Field Coating Inspectors are responsible for insuring that a contractor has completed the work on a project according to the specification requirements. This requires the inspector to be at the project site to inspect the work when it is completed. We provide a vehicle for the inspector’s to get to the site, the training and equipment to perform the inspection service and the expenses for overnight stays. When on site, Inspectors will perform testing and visually inspect the contractors work. A report will be completed detailing the results of the inspection and any corrective action required. The painting season starts in March and runs through November. After the 1st season, Inspectors are given the opportunity to become certified in the coating inspection field which will enhance their qualifications and opportunities in the Coating Inspection Field.

The Field Coating Inspector’s pay ranges from $14 to $25/per hour depending upon an inspector’s qualifications, certifications and experience.
